Mental Health in Construction
The construction industry is facing a mental health crisis. Every working day, two construction workers in the UK take their own lives. Many more struggle in silence with stress, depression and anxiety. Long hours, job insecurity and the pressure to deliver can take a serious toll, but the stigma around speaking up means too often people don’t reach out for help.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Breaking the silence and encouraging open conversations can save lives.

What are CIOB doing?
CIOB has launched the Need to Talk Sticker as a discreet way for people in construction to access support when they need it most.
The sticker features a QR code that takes you directly to CIOB Assist, where a range of help and resources are available. It’s designed to be placed in private spaces, such as inside locker doors or toilet cubicles, so that it can be scanned discreetly.
This initiative offers a simple but powerful way for workers to take a first step toward support in a private, stigma-free way.
Get Involved
The sticker is designed to be shared. By using it in your workplace, you can help spark conversations, show support for colleagues and encourage a culture where talking about mental health is normal.
You can get involved by:
